The art of printing for colorful and durable cards.

The importance of color in cartography.

For brightly colored and contrasting maps, printing is paramount!

When I work on the color range for a map, I pay particular attention to ensuring that one color cannot be confused with another.Zoom on the colors of the legend of the map of the city of Lyon.Zoom on the colors of the legend of the map of the city of Lyon.

It's very important so that the link between the color in the legend and the color on the map can be made quickly and guarantee the good readability of the information on the base map.

A local partnership for quality prints.

To achieve this quality, I chose to work with Sel de Pixel. It's a digital photo lab located in Rennes, where I work, convenient!

I chose proximity to be part of a local network and to have fluid and rapid exchanges with a printing professional. Working closely with my printer is a guarantee of quality, because it was on their expert advice that I was able to choose the best type of printing for the maps.

Sel de Pixel produces high-end inkjet prints using a printing process recognized as the best in terms of rendering and preservation duration without degradation, the Canon PRO-4600 plotter for those who might be familiar with it. Twelve inks dedicated to color accuracy, detail finesse, and black depth.

Choosing paper: between durability and flexibility.

This process, coupled with the best current paper media, guarantees exceptional print quality. Following their good advice, I chose a 230 g/m² matte, finely textured paper.

The grammage indicates the paper's thickness and impacts its resistance and durability. In art printing, media between 200 and 300 g/m² are preferred. A 230 g/m² paper guarantees the durability of the print and represents a good compromise between quality and paper flexibility to allow posters to be rolled and slipped into a tube without marking the paper.

It is because I work closely with this partner that I can guarantee you colorful maps and neat prints for lasting memories.
